We just found out that SPRINT and AT&T will in fact work on the island, but Verizon will not (at the resort anyway...in town it will). We both have Verizon.
Djavad (5' 10" 170) NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills, NJ Nets, NJ Devils. Djavad was born in Trenton, NJ and moved back and forth between numerous homes in NJ, Tehran, Iran and Kerman, Iran until he was 9. It was at this young age that Djavad developed his love of travel and flying. At age 9 Djavad moved from Trenton to the rural community of West Amwell, the place he still calls home. Djavad was raised on a farm, taught to be honest and compassionate and was given a strong work ethic by his mother and father. At age ten Djavad was granted his long awaited wish, a sister. Although seperated by ten years, Djavad and his sister are very close. In high school and college Djavad enjoyed travel, athletics, theatre and other extra curricular activities in addition to his studies. While in college Djavad began working at the Union Hotel (famous for it's proximity to the Lindbugh Trial) in Flemington and became a bartender and later the general manager. It was at the Union Hotel that Djavad made so many of his most enduring friendships. It was with these friends that Djavad was fortunate enough to share his passion for travel and adventure. Djavad began flying as a hobby in 1994 and in 2001 he decided to say goodbye to the Union Hotel and pursue his passion for aviation by making it his career. In Phoenix for a year and then on to Tucson at the International Airline Training Academy (IATA), Djavad's experience in management propelled him from flight instructor to Chief Flight Instructor in just a few years. It was as flight instructor that Djavad met his dream girl. Reluctant at first in an attempt to maintain their proffesional relationship, Djavad was won over by Rachel's passionate conversation, In 2008 IATA fell victim to the economy and Djavad took a job in Las Vegas at a small flight school named Monarch Sky. Using his 6 years of experience in a large flight school Djavad is helping Monarch Sky gain it's 141 certification and commuting home to see Rachel, Piper and Bean on the weekends.
Rachel was born and raised in Littleton, NH with her 2 older sisters and younger brother. She felt like she needed to have a little more room to breathe, so she moved to the suburbs of Seattle for her junior and senior year of high school. She lived with her mom's sister and her family. In high school, she was very involved with student council, theatre, and skiing. Rachel started college north of Chicago at a small art school which has since closed. Rachel's mom's favorite story is the one about how Rachel got a scholarship to that art school for volleyball...even though she'd never played. After a year and no success on the volleyball court, she roadtripped around the country for a semester with her oldest sister Brooke. At this point, she didn't have much of a plan for herself but wound up in Tucson at the University of Arizona studying art and bartending at a country music nightclub, The Cactus Moon. With degree in hand, she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a personal assistant to a producer. She soon discovered that LA was not her kind of town and moved on to a job with ClubMed. This led her to Florida and southern Mexico and, upon completion, (close to) home in Boston. Rachel honed her bartending skills at Cheers on Beacon Hill and worked by day as a corporate concierge. She caught at least one game a homestand at Fenway that summer. When she wasn't at work or at Fenway, she was hanging out with her sisters and their families and loving Boston. But, winter was coming.... During a Cheers shift, she served a guy in a pilot uniform. She was curious and asked him how a person goes about learning to fly...and it was just a matter of time before she had the financing and information to return to school in Arizona to learn to be a pilot. Lucky Rachel, she wound up with the best instructor at the school (in the world)...and spent $50,000 to find the man of her dreams! She has since decided that flying for money is not for her, but plans to continue flying throughout her life for recreational purposes with Djavad. Rachel spends her time working, painting, doing yoga, hiking, playing with the dogs, and wedding planning.
javad and Rachel met in October of 2003 when Rachel started school at IATA in Tucson. Djavad was assigned to be her instructor early in her training. The attraction was immediate and soon they developed more than a teacher/student relationship. Rachel would often take Djavad's dog, Piper, home from school so that she'd have a chance to see him in the evenings when he came to retrieve his dog. After dating in the fall of '03, they made it official on December 12th. It wasn't long before Rachel moved in with Djavad at the Starr Pass Apartments. They added little Bean to the mix at the start of 2005.
They bought their house in the late winter (Arizona hardly has a winter...) of '05 but have recently decided to sell it in order to be closer together. Djavad has been working in Las Vegas for the past year and commuting home on the weekends. He is the acting chief flight instructor and working as somewhat of a consultant for a company called Monarch Sky. Rachel recently left her job as the General Manager of the bar she worked at during college, The Cactus Moon, to make the move to Vegas to be with Djavad. She recently took a job as a wedding photographer with Cashman Pro Photo. Rachel and Djavad spend their weekends relaxing and playing with the dogs.
